The Great Duck Race

Shipston Angling Club and the Stour Valley Lions held the Great Annual Shipston Great Duck Race on Sunday 19th May at Shipston Bridge.   Families turned out in their hundreds to buy ducks and watch them bobbing down the River Stour in bright sunshine.  Entertainment was provided through music by Big Krispy with activities including a tombola, a fairground ride, and a very popular Hook-a-duck with a win every time!  The Coach and Horses, Nice Bites and Mr Whippy icecream van provided much needed refreshments throughout.  

 

Local businesses were very generous in their sponsorship of the event, with 12 taking part in the Great Shipston Duck Derby which was won by Seccombe Estate Agents with Creature Comforts in 2nd place and Cotek Papers Ltd in 3rd place.  Individual races were sponsored and we were proud to present The Coop Plunge, The Tesco Express Whirl, The Old Mill Race, The Krister Nobes Landscaping Cascades,  The Fuzzy Duck Splatter and the Stour Valley Lions Roaring Rapids.

Other sponsors who contrbuted to raising money for our community, included Shipston Spokes, Richard Harvey Interiors, Cooke Watts & Co Ltd, Number One, Peter Clarke Estate Agents, Thomas Algar Bespoke Projects and The George Townhouse.​ Although the final total hasn't been announced as yet, it was a very successful event and all profits will be split equally between the Shipston First Responders and Fish ‘n’ Frolics (in aid of Shipston's Young Anglers).
